Ok, so during a recent Sunday gathering of the family and everyone that could be was there! Yay! Thank you all for coming!
During dinner we had a discussion that I thought would never come up during a Moon Family Dinner, and I had no idea that mom would participate of all people! We discussed: The Bachelorette. (I use the term "we" loosely. I was never really into the conversation, since I don't watch it but yeah...)
Well, last Monday we are having Family Home Evening. We actually were having an okay discussion about... Hmm... well I forget, but out of the blue Mother sits straight up, her eyes bulge, she slaps the couch with both hands, and screams out "WHAT TIME IS IT?" I look at the clock which read 6:56 pm and wondered what mom would be so worried about on a Monday night, you know, family night.
I told her what time it was and she leaps off the couch and scurries off to her room saying something about pushing "record." When she said record I started thinking of all that shows that play on Monday. (I'll bet you already know where I'm going with this, but I wanna finish) I started thinking about channels 7 and 11 since those are the ones mom usually watch. I guess it could be some talk by a general authority... but I think mom would not have had such a reaction to missing it if it was. So I continue to think. "Is masterpiece theatre on? I don't think so...
Channel 2? Nothing special...
Channel 4? What is on channel 4? and then.... I remember... The Bachelorette! Oh. My. Heck!"
Mom walked back in with a guilty smile on her face when I confront her about disrupting Family Home Evening for the sake of recording the Bachelorette. Sure enough, mom admits to it and starts saying something about how she wants Jason and blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, I found it really funny and wanted to let you all know that:
"Hi, this is Diane Moon, and she is addicted to The Bachelorette."

Well, it's only fair that I comment first. Really, it wasn't quite that dramatic, but it was funny to read.
I totally need to repent of allowing myself to get hooked on this show. I was glad that it wasn't the usual girls throwing themselves at one guy fair. I'd pretty much dropped the show, but this one was great because the guys were so much more logical and not emotional recks, sneaky and sleezy.
Nevertheless, now that Jason did not get the final rose, I'm totally devistated and plan to not allow myself to waste precious time on this show. I'M CALLING MYSELF TO REPENTANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I apologize for my horrible example and want to ask how everyone else was fitting this in on a Monday night.
That's awesome! I'm totally proud of your mom! We don't have television so we had to wait until Tuesday to watch it, but let me tell you what...I'm sooooo bugged she didn't pick Jason! I'm sure you're mom and I will have a convo about it on Saturday. ;)
No need to repent for that, I think it's okay. I loved to watch that show too. I also had to wait till Tuesday to watch it cause we don't have T.V. Hey, maybe there is your answer mom, just get rid of T.V? I bet ANdrew wouldn't mind. he he
I don't really watch TV. I watch movies and stuff online... It's been... I think a month... maybe more since I've actually sat down to watch TV... Oh my gosh! weird! I haven't even noticed!!! Well... ever since the writer's strike there wasn't anything good on so I sorta stopped...
Oh Drew thanks for sharing. I still can't get over how mom watched it this season. Also that funny that we don't have tv either and I had to wait til tuesday to watch.

WOW! That is hilarious! Great description, Andrew! I could totally picture the whole thing. I used to love that show back in the days, but Cody and I haven't had T.V. this whole summer so I didn't even know it was showing. I'll have to hear all about at the reunion or something.
Oh my heck that is hilarious! I am still shocked that your mom even watches it let alone is addicted to it! I loved the way you told the story too. That was great!
I am mordified.
